This Privacy & Security Policy applies to all products, services and websites offered by Australian Art Supplies or its affiliated companies. We may post product specific privacy notices or Help Center materials to explain our products in more detail.

Information we collect and how we use it

We may collect the following types of information:

Information you provide – When you place orders on Australian Art Supplies, we ask you for personal information. We may combine the information you submit under your account with information from other Australian Art Supplies services or third parties in order to provide you with a better experience and to improve the quality of our services. For certain services, we may give you the opportunity to opt out of combining such information.

Log information – When you access Australian Art Supplies services via a browser application, our servers automatically record certain information. These server logs may include information such as your web request, your interaction with a service, Internet Protocol address, browser type, browser language, the date and time of your request and one or more cookies that may uniquely identify your browser or your account.

These cookies are not accessible by any company or internet domain other than our own website located at australianartsupplies.com.au. We use cookies to improve your shopping experience. These tracking technologies allow Australian Art Supplies to monitor the items you may want to purchase as you move through the shopping site, and to record how many people are using the different parts of the site. Furthermore, when you visit artscene.com.au, a cookie helps us keep track of your order as you shop on our site. In either case, this information helps us serve you better by improving our site design, as well as our products, services and promotions.

We also use cookies to track and maintain the identity of the Web site you visited immediately prior to ours to further improve our site. We do not otherwise track any information about your use of other Web sites.

Australian Art Supplies does use various 3rd party cookies to provide promotions on other websites, and capture visitor website usage in aggregate (not individually) for analytic and diagnostic purposes.

You can refuse all cookies, 1st party cookies, and/or 3rd party cookies by turning them off in your browser, however, if you turn off 1st party cookies, we will not be able to track your order or enable you to make a purchase from our site nor will we be able to recognize you as a "Registered Customer" to allow you access to your account information or assist data input during checkout processing.

Alternatively, many modern web browsers allow you to configure your preferred "Privacy" settings as they relate to cookies. Other than forcing you to log in again, using any or all of these methods will not affect your use of the artscene.com.au.

User communications – When you send email or other communications to Australian Art Supplies, we may retain those communications in order to process your inquiries, respond to your requests and improve our services. When you send and receive SMS messages to or from one of our services that provides SMS functionality, we may collect and maintain information associated with those messages, such as the phone number, the wireless carrier associated with the phone number, the content of the message, and the date and time of the transaction. We may use your email address to communicate with you about our services. You can always opt out by selecting “unsubscribe” option in the email communication.

Affiliated Australian Art Supplies Services on other sites – We offer some of our services on or through other web sites. Personal information that you provide to those sites may be sent to Australian Art Supplies in order to deliver the service. We process such information under this Privacy Policy.

Location data – Australian Art Supplies may offer location-enabled services. If you use those services, we may receive information about your actual location (such as GPS signals sent by a mobile device) or information that can be used to approximate a location (such as a cell ID).

Other sites – This Privacy & Security Policy applies to Australian Art Supplies services only. We do not exercise control over other sites which display our products or services, or links to Australian Art Supplies website from their various services. These other sites may place their own cookies or other files on your computer, collect data or solicit personal information from you.

In addition to the above, we may use the information we collect to:

Provide, maintain, protect, and improve our services (including advertising services) and develop new services; and

Protect the rights or property of Australian Art Supplies or our users.

If we use this information in a manner different than the purpose for which it was collected, then we will ask for your consent prior to such use.

Australian Art Supplies processes and maintains record of your personal information on our servers in Australia. We do not process your personal information with a third party.

Information sharing

Australian Art Supplies may only share personal information with other companies or individuals outside of Australian Art Supplies in the following limited circumstances:

We may occasionally hire other companies to provide services on our behalf, including but not limited to handling customer support enquiries, processing transactions or customer freight shipping. Those companies will be permitted to obtain only the personal information they need to deliver the service. Australian Art Supplies takes reasonable steps to ensure that these companies or individuals are bound by confidentiality and privacy obligations in relation to the protection of your personal information.

We have your consent. We require opt-in consent for the sharing of any sensitive personal information.

We provide such information to our subsidiaries, affiliated companies or other trusted businesses or persons for the purpose of processing personal information on our behalf. We require that these parties agree to process such information based on our instructions and in compliance with this Privacy & Security Policy and any other appropriate confidentiality and security measures.

We have a good faith belief that access, use, preservation or disclosure of such information is reasonably necessary to (a) satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process or enforceable governmental request, (b) enforce applicable Terms of Service, including investigation of potential violations thereof, (c) detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues, or (d) protect against harm to the rights, property or safety of Australian Art Supplies, its users or the public as required or permitted by law.

If Australian Art Supplies becomes involved in a merger, acquisition, or any form of sale of some or all of its assets, we will ensure the confidentiality of any personal information involved in such transactions and provide notice before personal information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

Information security

We take appropriate security measures to protect against unauthorised access to or unauthorised alteration, disclosure or destruction of data. These include internal reviews of our data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures, including appropriate encryption and physical security measures to guard against unauthorised access to systems where we store personal data.

We restrict access to personal information to Australian Art Supplies employees, contractors and agents, such as freight companies, who need to know that information in order to process it on our behalf. These individuals are bound by confidentiality obligations and may be subject to discipline, including termination and criminal prosecution, if they fail to meet these obligations.

Australian Art Supplies’s checkout process is protected with Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), the standard for encrypted commercial transactions throughout the Internet. SSL encrypts all personal information, including your name and credit card number, so that this information cannot be read as it travels through the Internet.

Accessing and updating personal information

When you use Australian Art Supplies online services, we make good faith efforts to provide you with access to your personal information and to correct this data if it is inaccurate. If you are not an online customer, you can email sales@australianartsupplies.com.au to update or correct your personal information. Any request to access personal information that we hold, must be made in writing to us. We ask individual users to identify themselves and the information requested to be accessed, corrected or removed before processing such requests, and we may decline to process requests that are unreasonably repetitive or systematic, require disproportionate technical effort, jeopardize the privacy of others, or would be extremely impractical (for instance, requests concerning information residing on backup tapes), or for which access is not otherwise required. In any case where we provide information access and correction, we perform this service free of charge and we would respond to you within 30 days from the date we receive your request. Because of the way we maintain certain services, after you delete your information, residual copies may take a period of time before they are deleted from our active servers and may remain in our backup systems.

Enforcement

Our policy for privacy and data protection is based on fair information principles recognised internationally, such as the "Safe Harbour Privacy Principles" and in Australia, the Australian Privacy Principles found in Australia's Privacy Act and the SPAM Act. We are committed to complying with Australia's Privacy Act 1988 and the Spam Act 2003 and their regulations.

Australian Art Supplies regularly reviews its compliance with this Privacy Policy. When we receive formal written complaints, it is The Art Scene’s policy to contact the complaining user regarding his or her concerns. We will cooperate with the appropriate regulatory authorities to resolve any complaints regarding the transfer of personal data that cannot be resolved between Australian Art Supplies and an individual.

Problems or queries

Queries relating to the Privacy & Security Policy, or any problems or complaints can be made by email us at admin@australianartsupplies.com.au.

We will get back to you as soon as we can. However, depending on the nature of the complaint or the problem, it may take us longer to identify and resolve. In any case, the maximum time that we would take to respond is 30 days. If for some reason you are still not satisfied with our response you can always take the matter to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

Changes to this Privacy Policy

Please note that this Privacy & Security Policy may change from time to time. We will not reduce your rights under this Privacy & Security Policy without your explicit consent. We will post any Privacy & Security Policy changes on this page and, if the changes are significant, we will provide a more prominent notice (including, for certain services, email notification of Privacy & Security Policy changes). We will also keep prior versions of this Privacy & Security Policy in our archive.
